Police arrest two people for sexual abuse of minors

The all-women Virugambakkam police have arrested two persons under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act for sexual abuse of a minor.

A senior Greater Chennai Police official said the victim’s parents had filed a complaint stating that their daughter, who is studying in Class 11, was sexually abused by two persons.

During investigation, police officers found that the victim was a regular visitor to a cafe in Anna Nagar. During one of her visits last month, she befriended Pritisha Agira, 19, of Perungalathur, who worked as a make-up artist for films. Pritisha later invited the minor to her birthday party, which was to be held on May 13 at an apartment in Saligramam.

When the girl entered the apartment, she found Pritisha and two other strangers there. During the party, she was forced to consume drinks, after which she lost consciousness. When she woke up the next morning, she found that she had been sexually assaulted. The three people, including Pritisha, had left the apartment. The girl told her parents, who took her to a private hospital, where the sexual abuse was confirmed.

The police team arrested 21-year-old Somesh alias Somasundaram from Vadapalani and Pritisha. The team is looking for the third accused Williams.
