Shock in Mumbai: 17-year-old abuses underage girl at home because she won’t buy him cigarettes – arrested

Mumbai, June 9: In a horrific incident, a 17-year-old boy allegedly sexually abused an 11-year-old girl in his house last month. The incident came to light after the minor victim confided in her elder sister, who then filed a complaint with the police. According to the victim’s complaint, the accused attacked her after she refused to buy him a cigarette. Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested and later sent to a juvenile home in Dongri.

According to a report by Indian TimesThe youth, a neighbour of the victim’s friend, was standing outside his house when the girl, the youngest of three sisters, came out alone and walked towards a shop. The youth called the victim over and gave her Rs 20 to buy him a cigarette. When the victim refused to buy a cigarette, the youth forcibly dragged her into his house and sexually abused her. According to the report, the teenager was home alone when the incident occurred. The frightened victim confided in her older sister, who then took her to her eldest sister and told her about her ordeal. The 24-year-old reported the incident to the police based on her sister’s account. The victim was then sent for a medical examination, which confirmed the sexual assault. After confirming the medical reports, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 and an investigation was initiated. The youth, the elder brother of the victim’s boyfriend, had fled from home after the attack, which led to a search operation. After being arrested, the absconding youth was remanded to Dongri Children’s Home.
