New Lenox man killed in hit-and-run with semi-trailer in Joliet

JOLIET, Ill. (CBS) – A man has died after being struck by a semi-trailer truck in a hit-and-run accident in Joliet on Saturday afternoon.

The 21-year-old New Lenox man, who had just been released from the Will County Adult Detention Center, was struck and run over by the semi-trailer shortly after 4 p.m., witnesses told Joliet police.

Police were called to the scene and found the victim lying on the ground at the intersection of Washington and Ottawa Streets.

According to police, the truck continued south on Ottawa Street.

The victim’s death was confirmed at the scene of the accident.

The intersection is expected to remain closed for several hours on Saturday evening.

The police are looking for the driver of the semi-trailer.
