Former football player distributed condoms and staged the gang rape of an unconscious woman he was with

A jury has found a former U.S. college football player guilty of orchestrating the gang rape of an unconscious woman he was with.

Brandon Vandenburg was found guilty on all counts of raping a woman with whom he began a relationship in his college dormitory in Nashville, Tennessee in June 2013.

He now faces 15 to 25 years in prison. When the verdict was read out at his arrest, his parents began to cry.

It was also revealed in court that the former Vanderbilt University football player distributed condoms to his teammates, who allegedly giggled as they inserted a water bottle into the girl’s body and sent recordings of the brutal gang attack to friends.

The jury in the case had to decide whether Vandenburg should be held criminally liable for what the other three players allegedly did to the woman in a college dorm.

All four former players have been charged, but only two have so far been accused of raping and sexually assaulting the woman.

Vandenburg’s lawyers had argued that he was too drunk to have the necessary intent to instruct or encourage players he did not even know to commit the crime.

The defense insisted that Vandenberg was a newcomer to the school and asked his teammates outside the dorm to help him carry the unconscious woman to his room after he failed to get her to her apartment.

Vandenberg’s lawyers told jurors that the other players immediately focused on the woman when they brought her into the room.

However, prosecutors portrayed Vandenburg as a villain who betrayed a woman who trusted him by giving her alcohol and encouraging others to rape her.

Prosecutors said Vandenberg distributed condoms to the other players, then took videos of the crime and sent the images to friends as it was happening.

Vandenburg and former player Cory Batey were convicted last year, but the verdicts were overturned after it was revealed that a juror had concealed the fact that he had been the victim of rape of a minor.

The retrial comes amid an ongoing debate about sexual assault on campus, including the case of a former Stanford swimmer who was sentenced to six months in prison for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a garbage dump.
