Unresponsive woman found in downtown Sacramento; investigation ongoing

SACRAMENTO – An investigation is ongoing after an unconscious woman who had apparently been attacked was found in downtown Sacramento early Saturday evening.

Sacramento police said officers were stopped near 17th and L. streets shortly after 6:30 p.m. They received reports of an unconscious woman found in the area.

She was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

Officers spoke to witnesses and now suspect that the woman was attacked before she was found unconscious.

No information on the suspect has been released, but officials are continuing to investigate the incident.
