According to the report, over 60 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested at the UMass Amherst camp

More than 64 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested late Tuesday night at the University of Massachusetts Amherst after students set up camp there to demand the university cut its ties with Israel and defense contractor Raytheon, according to the school’s Massachusetts Daily Collegian student newspaper .

The arrests began about 7:45 p.m., the newspaper reported, about six hours after the encampment was set up on the lawn of the university’s Student Union South. On Tuesday, students set up an encampment on campus for the second time, although protesters quickly demolished the first encampment after the university warned students against trespassing.

A university spokesman could not be reached Wednesday morning to confirm the arrests.
