Russia attacks eleven communities in Sumy Oblast

Russian forces attacked 11 communities in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy Oblast in 26 separate attacks throughout the day, the regional administration reported on June 8. At least 59 explosions were reported in Sumy Oblast over the past 24 hours.

The targets of the attacks were the communities of Mykolaiv, Khotin, Bilopilja, Krasnopilja, Seredyna-Buda, Tsnob-Novohorodske, Shalyyne, Esman, Velyka Pysarivka, Krolevets and Nova Sloboda.

Throughout the day, Russia shelled border communities with mortars, artillery and drones. The town of Krasnopillia, which had a population of about 7,700 before the war, was the hardest hit, with 71 explosions reported in the area.

No casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure were reported.

Russian attacks on Sumy Oblast are increasingly destructive in recent months. A Russian Missile attack On May 29, two civilians were killed and three others injured in Krasnopillia.

In view of the increasing attacks, the Ukrainian authorities ordered Evacuations from the region. Sumy Oblast borders on the Russian city of Bryansk, KurskAnd Belgorod Oblasts.
