Ryan Garcia arrested for alleged damage to a Beverly Hills hotel

Boxing star Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday for vandalism after a Beverly Hills hotel accused him of causing an estimated $15,000 in damage, a Beverly Hills Police Department watch commander told ESPN.

Garcia, 25, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. after a driver who dropped him off at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills called police, police said.

The hotel decided to press charges when police arrived, although the exact nature of the damage and Garcia’s behavior were not immediately clear. After being booked into the Beverly Hills Police Department’s jail, Garcia complained of a medical issue and was subsequently transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to police.

“He was transported by BHPD to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment and, to our knowledge, he may be charged with public intoxication,” Garcia’s attorney Darin Chavez told ESPN.

Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) is facing a suspension from the New York Athletic Commission after testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine ahead of his surprise majority decision win over Devin Haney in April.

Garcia knocked Haney down three times, but was not allowed to win the WBC light welterweight title because he was 3.2 pounds overweight.

A decision by the Commission is pending and his victory could be annulled.
