Brockton police investigate after 2-year-old drowns in pool – NBC Boston

A two-year-old boy drowned in an above-ground pool in Brockton, Massachusetts on Saturday.

Brockton police received a 911 call at 9:15 a.m. Saturday reporting that a 2-year-old boy had been found unconscious in an above-ground pool in the backyard of a home on Ardsley Circle, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office.

Police and emergency personnel responded and took the boy to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His name will not be released at this time, the district attorney said.

Brockton Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Marchetti said it was a difficult situation for everyone involved and they were heartbroken for the family.

“It’s an unimaginable tragedy,” he said. “Nobody wants to answer these calls.”

He said arriving firefighters found the child already outside the pool while a family member began CPR.

The incident remains under investigation by the state and Brockton police.
