Boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested on Saturday for vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, a Beverly Hills police officer confirmed to Yahoo Sports.

Garcia had been in custody since Saturday evening, but was expected to be released during the night.

TMZ originally reported on Garcia’s arrest. Video shows Garcia shirtless and being led out of the hotel lobby in handcuffs. Garcia is wearing a helmet that covers his face, but his tattoos on his back are visible.

Garcia was reportedly accused of damaging hotel property, including his room and the hallway. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, but obeyed authorities’ orders when they arrived. Any damage over $400 can be considered a felony in California.

TMZ reports that eyewitnesses saw nearly a dozen police cars outside the hotel. Garcia was also said to have received welfare on Wednesday because a family member feared he needed help. Although he appeared to be fine, he then reportedly freaked out so much that the hotel banned him from drinking alcohol that evening.

The arrest is just the latest incident in a surreal sequence of events since he scored the biggest win of his career against WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney. That fight was already dramatic as Garcia was three pounds under weight, costing him $1.5 million, but then he tested positive for a banned substance.

Although Garcia’s lawyers have presented evidence that the positive test for Ostarine was due to contaminated supplements, he still faces a significant suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission. Garcia has denied using banned substances, but has also made some bizarre statements, such as “I will take any steroids.”

There is also a defamation lawsuit pending from Prime Hydration, an energy drink company owned by Logan Paul. Prime Hydration also claims that Garcia fabricated text messages in which the influencer and professional wrestler allegedly mocked the deaths in the Gaza Strip.
