Health warning issued for frozen Bao Curry Chicken products shipped to Walmart stores – KIRO 7 News Seattle

WASHINGTON – A public health alert was issued Friday for Bao Thai curry chicken shipped to Walmart stores nationwide due to mislabeling and undeclared allergens.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the recall involved 10-ounce cartons of four Wow Bao Bao Thai-Style Curry Chicken products that had a best-before date of “04/12/25” printed on the side.

The FSIS stated that the product labeled as Bao Curry Chicken may actually contain Teriyaki Chicken Bao products. These products contain soy and sesame, known allergens that are not listed on the product label.

According to FSIS, the fully cooked, frozen Bao Curry Chicken product was packaged on March 20, 2024.

The product bears the establishment number “P-40001” within the USDA certification mark, the agency said.

The manufacturer informed FSIS that it had received a complaint from a consumer who stated that a box labeled “Bao Thai Curry Chicken” contained bags of Bao Teriyaki Chicken, according to FSIS.

There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consumer consumption of these products.

The FSIS stated that the products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumers with questions about the public health alert may contact Brandon Tammaro, Vice President of Strategic Growth at Wow Bao, at 734-904-8627 or email [email protected].
