Fatal Sussex County mobile home fire under investigation | Latest News

SUSSEX COUNTY, DE – The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a mobile home fire in Ocean View, Delaware that left one person dead Saturday.

The Millville Volunteer Fire Department and supporting auxiliary fire departments responded to a fire on Bethany Crest Lane in Ocean View, Delaware shortly after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters arrived on scene to find a mobile home ablaze. The Delaware State Fire Marshal said crews were able to locate an unconscious person inside the building and successfully extricated the victim. Fire and rescue crews attempted to resuscitate the victim. However, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and the victim did not survive.

According to officials, the victim was turned over to the Delaware Department of Forensics for identification and determination of cause of death.

The Delaware State Deputy Fire Marshal is currently conducting an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire. The incident remains under investigation.

According to officials, no other injuries were reported. Damage from the fire is estimated at $50,000.
