Kaushambi (UP), June 8 (PTI) – A 15-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by her school principal, attempted suicide by jumping in front of a goods train on Saturday, police said.

The girl was admitted to the district hospital in serious condition, it was said.

Deputy Director General of Police (ADG) Bhanu Bhaskar said Raju Singh Lodh, who posted the video, was arrested on Saturday.

After investigating the viral video, a case was filed against the school principal based on a complaint from the victim’s family.

The case was registered under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 323 (punishment for intentional causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, besides provisions of the Information Technology Act and the POCSO Act.

Circle Collector Sirathu Awadhesh Kumar Vishwakarma formed a team to investigate the case and arrest the accused.

Vishwakarma said the girl attempted suicide on Saturday by jumping in front of a goods train on the Delhi-Howrah railway line.

She was seriously injured after being hit by the train. After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene of the accident and took her to the district hospital.

He said that according to her family, the girl attempted suicide because she was upset that the video had gone viral.
