Russian troops attacked the village of Khotimlia in Kharkiv region on June 8, killing one person and injuring two, the Kharkiv region prosecutor’s office reported.

Khotimlia in the Chuhuiv district, where around 1,350 people lived before the war, is located just under 45 kilometers from the regional capital Kharkiv.

The village was reportedly hit by two Russian aerial bombs at around 3:45 p.m. local time. Authorities said houses, cars and a school were damaged in the attack.

One man was killed and two women aged 35 and 43 were injured, the prosecutor said.

On May 10, Russian forces launched new offensive operations in the north of Kharkiv Oblast, subjecting Kharkiv and several border settlements in the region to heavy attacks.

As Moscow opened a new front, Kyiv urged its allies to lift the ban on attacks using Western weapons inside Russia to prevent further attacks on Ukrainian territory. In late May, the US gave Ukraine permission to use some American weapons to attack targets on Russian soil across the border in Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts.
