Disneyland employee dies in golf cart accident

A Disney employee died Friday after falling from a moving golf cart at the Disneyland Resort on Wednesday, Anaheim police confirmed.

Bonnye Mavis Lear, 60, suffered fatal injuries in the fall, according to the Los Angeles Times. The incident in which Lear fell and hit her head occurred backstage just before 11:30 a.m. and required an immediate response from Anaheim police, fire and EMS. Lear was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries, Anaheim police confirmed to The Daily Caller.

Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock expressed his regret over Lear’s death.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of Bonnye and extend our sincere condolences to everyone who cared for her,” Potrock said in a statement to The Daily Caller. “At this time, our focus is on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and ensuring they have the resources they need.” (RELATED: ‘Similar to bribery’: Audit finds Disney gave favorable benefits to hand-picked special district board members)

According to the Los Angeles Times, Anaheim police, led by their traffic investigators, have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.

The Daily Caller has reached out to the Orange County Coroner’s Office but has not yet received a response.
