Sexual assault trial postponed at Greenock Sheriff Court

Quintin De Bruyn, 39, denies allegations of repeatedly kissing an elderly pensioner on the mouth and neck in a flat in Greenock on July 11 last year.

It is alleged that he also put his hand around her shoulders, held her hand and repeatedly stroked her thigh.

The trial of De Bruyn, whose address was not given in court, was adjourned at the request of the public prosecutor at the last hearing of the case.

A tax official said video surveillance evidence had only recently been made available.

Defense attorney Paul Cook objected, telling the court that the case had caused De Bruyn “significant distress.”

Sheriff Anthony McGeehan granted the prosecution’s application, saying: “The charges are serious and the prosecution has only recently received important evidence in this case.”

De Bruyn is due to appear in court again on October 14.
