Two teenagers and one adult arrested after shooting a group of people with a BB gun in West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – Two juveniles and one adult were arrested after firing a BB-style gun at a group of people in West Hartford Saturday afternoon.

Police said they received a complaint around 1 p.m. that the occupant of a black Mercedes Benz pointed an air rifle at a person sitting in front of a Whole Foods at 50 Raymond Road.

Another complaint said the occupants of the car shot several people with shotgun pellets near the intersection of Bishop Road and Farmington Avenue.

The victims, both teenagers and adults, suffered minor injuries and were examined on site by first responders.

The suspect vehicle was found at the intersection of Park and Raymond Road. It was determined to have a false, stolen license plate.

After hitchhiking, the suspects engaged in a police chase. Police used a tire pressure valve to stop the suspects in Newington.

After the inspection, a “Surge XL Gel Blaster” was discovered inside the vehicle.

The adult suspect, identified as 18-year-old Luis Ortiz-Perez of Berlin, is being held on $250,000 bail pending arraignment in Hartford District Court.

He faces a litany of charges, including ten counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, obstructing an officer, four counts of child endangerment, seven counts of third-degree assault and eight counts of second-degree disturbing the peace.

The two juveniles also face several charges, including multiple counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, endangering a child, third-degree assault and second-degree disturbing the peace.
