MBI investigates police-involved shooting in Corinth

JACKSON, Miss. (WDAM) – A shooting Saturday by Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office officers is being investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

The MBI said Saturday that a preliminary investigation revealed that ACSD officers responded to a call on County Road 575 in Corinth, Mississippi.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a person with a weapon who was threatening to harm himself and others.

The deputies then fired their weapons and hit the perpetrator.

The officers involved did not suffer any serious physical injuries.

There was no information about the shot in question in the preliminary report.

This information is preliminary and subject to change, MBI said.

.MBI said it would investigate the incident and collect evidence.

Once the investigation is complete, the agents will report their findings to the Attorney General’s Office.
