Srinagar: In Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, a primary school teacher named Fiaz Ahmed was suspended for criticising government policies and disseminating classified information.

The suspension, announced on Saturday, came after Ahmed uploaded a video on social media showing the dilapidated state of the Government Middle School in Draman, where he worked.

The video, which highlighted the poor condition of the school – including unsafe accommodation, threats to student safety and inadequate staffing – led to immediate intervention by authorities.

Confirming the suspension, Chief Education Officer (Doda) Prakash Lal Thappa said that a detailed project report (DPR) had been sought from the Works Department for immediate renovation of the school.

“The teacher was suspended on Friday,” Thappa said, “while a DPR was sought for urgent repairs to the school building.”

The suspension order criticised Ahmed for failing to prevent an unauthorised person from entering the school premises and for making confidential information public. The order also found that Ahmed’s statement, which was requested on June 6, was unsatisfactory and unreliable – (KNO)
