Incident leads to police presence on McKenzie tracks

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –According to an Eyewitness News Tipster from WBBJ-7, police officers were at the scene of a possible body being found along the train tracks in McKenzie.

The incident occurred on the tracks in the area behind Hamilton Street.

The news tip-off tells us that police were on scene around 6am this morning and were still seen at work when our officers arrived shortly after 9am.

According to the informant, the train had to make an emergency stop early in the morning to perform an emergency stop.

Our teams observed CSX Railway Company employees, police officers and several passersby on site.

At this time, authorities are not releasing any details about the incident. Witnesses said police officers were seen walking up and down the tracks wearing gloves and taking photos, apparently in an attempt to gather evidence.

An informant also told us that an ambulance was on site at some point.

“I got in my car and drove to the train tracks, to the railroad crossing, and saw that there were all kinds of lights down there, police, fire department, everyone was down there,” said witness Correna Dycus.
