The Atlanta Braves Bring Back the Legends Stand Four with a Special Twist

Last season, Bally Sports announced a four-man broadcast team consisting of Atlanta Braves Hall of Famers Chipper Jones, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz, as well as former Brave and then full-time analyst Jeff Francoeur. Their first game, which on paper appeared to be a pitchers’ duel, turned into a shootout and the team was extremely entertaining throughout.

Of course, after several lead changes with incredible home run after incredible home run, the game ended on a home run with one of the most iconic calls of all time by the legends.

The team had one more game last season, and Bally considered the broadcasts a success because they will return on May 15 when Atlanta takes on the Chicago Cubs.

Between the second and third innings of last night’s game, Jeff Francoeur appeared on the show to announce the four-man stand and hint at the lineup change.

John Smoltz then appeared to say he would not join the team when the Braves face the Cubs on May 15. He will instead be replaced by former receiver Brian McCann.

McCann has already joined the Braves broadcast, making an appearance when Chip Caray and Franceour called the game from the chophouse. He also made a few television appearances as a fan in the crowd.

The rest of the crew will remain the same, with Chipper Jones, Tom Glavine and Frenchy all reprising their roles on the stand. We’ll see more hilarious clips, like Chipper rolling Greg Maddux, and will probably hear Jeff Francoeur roasting his good friend Brian McCann as well.

The crew will likely also be joined by other former Braves throughout the game. The May 15 game starts at 7:20 p.m. EST and you don’t want to miss it.
