Bedford Police – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Bedford police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for the murder of an elderly woman who was found dead in her home on Thursday.

On June 6 at approximately 4:14 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 2400 block of Meadow View Lane after a report of an unconscious person.

When police arrived at the residence, they said they found the body of an elderly woman who was known to have died for unknown reasons.

During the course of the investigation into the death, Bedford Police detectives came across surveillance camera footage showing a thin, light-skinned man wearing a black shirt, black tights, white tennis shoes and possibly a wig approaching the victim’s front door.

According to investigators, the victim opened the door and spoke to the unidentified suspect, who asked to use her phone. Officials believe the suspect then forced his way into the woman’s home after she refused.

The video obtained by investigators does not show what happened inside the house, but the suspect can be seen leaving the house a few minutes later, police said.

The victim’s name has not yet been released. The police department said it is not releasing the surveillance footage for investigative reasons.

Bedford residents are advised to be aware of their surroundings and not to open the door to strangers, especially if they are home alone.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Bedford Police at 817-952-2127.
