61-year-old cyclist killed in accident in Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGA (KLAS) — Metro Police say a cyclist has died following an accident in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

At around 7:05 a.m. Saturday, Metro Police responded to a report of an accident on Fremont Street north of Sahara Avenue.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements showed that a man on a bicycle was riding southbound on Fremont Street when he made an “abrupt turn” north of a marked crosswalk. At the same time, a Ford F-150 had just completed a right turn, causing the cyclist to crash into the front of the Ford, according to police.

The 61-year-old cyclist was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

This death is the 75th traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD jurisdiction in 2024.
