Florida’s sharks in Walton County are not playing – three people injured in two shark attacks

According to CNN, three people were injured in two separate shark attacks on neighboring beaches in Walton County on Friday. The attacks occurred just an hour and a half apart. The first attack occurred around 1:15 p.m., when a 45-year-old woman swimming with her husband near a sandbar near Alys Beach was seriously injured by a shark. The woman had to be airlifted from the beach. CNN reported that she was in critical condition Friday and had to have her left forearm amputated. Later that same day, around 2:55 p.m., two teenage girls were waist-deep in water at Seacrest Beach when a shark attacked them. Authorities said one of the girls was seriously injured in her thigh and hand, while the other suffered only minor injuries to her foot. The beaches were subsequently closed to swimmers following the attacks. The last recorded shark attacks in Walton County occurred in 2005 and 2021.
