Two underage girls raped in Udhampur, accused arrested

Police on Saturday arrested two accused for raping two minor girls in Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district, officials said.

“Udhampur police have nabbed two rape accused, Dalip Kumar and Ravinder Kumar, residents of Panchound, within 24 hours of the incident. They were accused of raping two minor girls from Ramnagar,” a police spokesman said.

On Friday, the victims were on their way home from a school picnic when they were raped by the two accused in the nearby Chatrari jungle area, he added.

After committing the crime, both defendants fled the scene.

Based on this information, case FIR No. 62/2024 was registered under relevant sections of the law at Ramnagar Police Station.

A police team rushed to the scene and rescued the two girls, who were found unconscious in the jungle.

Both the girls were shifted to the sub-district hospital in Ramnagar and police teams were sent to various suspected spots to conduct raids and arrest the accused.

A police team then managed to arrest the two defendants.

Proceedings have been initiated against the duo under the relevant legal provisions.
