New York honors fallen police officers with a memorial wall

New York State will honor the fallen police officers with a ceremony at the Police Officers Memorial near the State Capitol in Albany.

As a touching sign of remembrance, the names of 68 fallen police officers were recently engraved on the memorial walls, along with nearly 2,000 others.

Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her gratitude and respect for the sacrifice of these officers, stating, “They are appreciated. You are respected and we honor your service every day because that is what you are willing to do.”

The memorial serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and dedication shown by police personnel across the state. Located in the heart of Albany, it is a lasting tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Additionally, the Mario Cuomo Bridge was lit blue last night as a gesture of solidarity and recognition to commemorate Police Memorial Day.
