‘No need to worry,’ Kingston police say after investigating park incident – ​​Kingston News

Kingston Police say they are investigating the incident and are asking the public to remove any social media posts related to an incident in a park that was widely shared on social media in the Kingston area this week.

“On the evening of Thursday, June 6, 2024, a man was observed approaching a young girl in the wading pool area of ​​the park at the intersection of Crossfield Avenue and Augusta Drive,” Kingston Police said in a press release on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

“This was obviously disturbing for the child and the parent who reported the incident to Kingston Police. A photo of this man subsequently circulated on the Internet. This person was identified and questioned by a detective,” police said.

“As a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department, Kingston Police would like to advise that this individual’s intentions are not believed to have been harmful in any way and there are no public safety concerns at this time,” Kingston Police said.

“In fairness to the individual, police are therefore asking the public to remove any social media posts relating to this incident. The family involved has been kept updated on the situation.”
