17-year-old arrested for car theft, police evasion and causing accident in East Flatbush

A 17-year-old boy is accused of stealing a Mercedes, fleeing from police in East Flatbush on Friday and causing an accident with the vehicle.

According to authorities, the car was identified as stolen by an NYPD license plate scanner around 9 a.m.

Hours later, police attempted to stop the suspect in East Flatbush, but the boy sped away and then crashed into five cars before attempting to flee on foot.

The suspect was eventually arrested and authorities say he faces charges including grand larceny, illegal possession of stolen property and reckless endangerment.
