Intersection in West Springfield closed after car accident

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (WWLP) – A car crash closed an intersection in West Springfield on Saturday.

According to West Springfield Sergeant Joe LaFrance, a car crash occurred at the corner of River and Baldwin Streets at about 1:20 a.m. A car traveling north on River Street left the road and struck a telephone pole on Baldwin Street.

The driver, who was alone in the car, was taken to Baystate Medical Center for her injuries. The pole was sheared off and Eversource was sent to replace it. A citation may be issued after the investigation is complete.

The intersection of Park and River Street is expected to be closed until Saturday afternoon. There is no specific date for the street’s reopening.
