A Spartanburg man is accused of sexually abusing a young girl for two years, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Melbin Samuel Castro Lopez, 39, is charged with five counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree sexual abuse with a minor. Investigators said the sexual abuse began when the victim was seven years old. The sheriff’s office said the assaults came to light on May 4, and after an investigation, Lopez was arrested Wednesday.

SPARTANBURG, SC —

A Spartanburg man is accused of sexually abusing a young girl for two years, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Melbin Samuel Castro Lopez, 39, is charged with five counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

According to investigators, the sexual assault began when the victim was seven years old.

The sheriff’s office said the assaults came to light on May 4 and Lopez was arrested Wednesday following an investigation.
