1 dead and 4 injured in shooting at party in Compton

A shooting at a house party in Compton left one person dead and several others hospitalized Friday night.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at a home near Greenleaf Boulevard and South Mayo Avenue, according to the Compton Sheriff’s Station.

One person was found dead at the scene and four others were taken to a local hospital in unknown condition. The victims were only identified as three women and two men.

Sky5 footage from the scene shows police surrounding a house with a large garden. One person was seen lying in the pool area, but authorities did not release details of their injuries.

Several parts of the backyard were cordoned off while investigators searched the property for evidence.

Several porches and covered seating areas in the backyard appeared to have been knocked over, while plenty of debris was scattered across the lawn.

The circumstances of the shooting are still unclear. The house is located near the Compton College campus.
