The children were playing outside when the aluminum shaft of a badminton racquet came loose from the wooden handle, causing the shaft to strike the girl in the head and pierce her skull. The girl was flown to MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland, where she died Wednesday, four days after the incident. According to a blog post, the little girl was Lucy Morgan, the daughter of Jesse Morgan, a pastor at Green Pond Bible Chapel in Rockaway, New Jersey. Police say the child’s death was nothing more than a tragic accident.
