Former Bernie Sanders staffer who dismissed Hamas rapes of Israeli women was fired from his job as anchor at The Hill

Briahna Joy Gray, former press secretary for Bernie Sanders and author of The Hill’s web series “Rising,” announced that she was fired from the news organization due to controversy over her dismissal of reports of Hamas rape of Israeli women.

Gray has been criticized over the past year for several anti-Israel attacks after the war between Israel and Hamas began in October. On Thursday, she released the “termination notice” she received from Nexstar Media Group, the company that owns The Hill.

“It finally happened. The Hill fired me. There should be no doubt that @RisingTheHill has a clear pattern of suppressing speech – especially when it is critical of the State of Israel. This is why they fired @kthalps, and it was only a matter of time before they fired me,” Gray wrote on X.

Former Bernie Sanders adviser is criticized for calling reports of Israeli women raped by Hamas “Zionist” propaganda.

Most recently, Gray made headlines when a clip showed her rolling her eyes at the sister of a Hamas hostage who appeared on “Rising” on Tuesday.

“I really hope you believe the women in particular when they say they have been hurt,” said Yarden Gonen.

The comment likely referred to Gray’s December X-post in which she disputed the credibility of reports that Hamas terrorists raped Israeli women during the October 7 attacks.

“Without evidence, @StateDeptSpox is pushing the theory that the unreleased female Israeli hostages are rape victims held back by Hamas because they don’t want them to speak publicly about their treatment. What we *know* so far is that Israeli hostages who have been allowed to speak to the press have been assured of humane treatment, while Palestinian hostages have testified to beatings and sexual assault,” Gray posted.

Nexstar Media Group confirmed to Fox News Digital that Gray is no longer a staff writer for The Hill.

After Gray announced the loss of her job in a post, some celebrated her firing.

“And I guarantee the woman whose sister was held hostage for eight months is not happy that you were fired, but I am. You are a racist imposter,” wrote actor Michael Rapaport.

Conservative commentator Pradheep Shankar wrote: “Fine. Let anti-Semites find other websites.”

“It finally happened! I’m so glad I was wrong and they didn’t go through with it! This was a long time coming! Tomorrow is the eighth anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack where Briana Joy Gray didn’t bother to express her condolences to the families of the victims,” commented Rebecca Downs, web editor of Townhall.com.

“Nothing worse could happen to anyone,” said “Rubin Report” host Dave Rubin.
