2 people found dead with gunshot wounds in a house in Owasso

According to Owasso police, a man and a woman were found shot to death in a home near East 116th Street North and North 129th East Avenue.

Neighbors said they were shocked and said the family living there had two small children and seemed friendly.

A neighbor also said that the children simply thought their parents were sleeping.

Shirlene Gaskill is one of the family’s neighbors and she says she last saw the man who lived in the house two days ago.

“The last two nights, Tuesday and Wednesday, I saw him on the other side as I was walking,” Gaskill said. “And I said, ‘I didn’t know you jogged,’ and he said, ‘I just started.'”

Gaskill says the couple were friends and she had been in contact with them several times over the years.

“We just passed each other and talked,” Gaskill said. “Whenever I’m out gardening or something, I wave to them and they wave to me.”

She says the couple were typical, helpful neighbors.

“I brought them some towels one time,” Gaskill said. “I make these handmade towels that you can hang on the stove. And he helped me start my lawn mower when I couldn’t get it. I brought him some towels that I made, and the next day or the day after that they brought me some cherry tomatoes.”

She says it is a sad situation, especially because the couple have small children who are constantly playing outside.

“They rode their tricycles and bicycles up and down the sidewalk and their father was often with them,” Gaskill said. “They wouldn’t let them go further than two or three houses away.”

Gaskill says the thought of something like this happening so close to home is frightening.

“It seems like a good neighborhood, but you just never know what people are like,” Gaskill said. “And they seemed like a good American family.”

Owasso police say they are not currently looking for suspects.
