Police find five bodies near Chihuahua Highway

Chihuahua state police are investigating the crime scene where five bodies were found near a highway on Friday.

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Chihuahua state police confirmed Friday the recovery of five bodies left near a highway in Chihuahua City.

The state attorney general’s office declined to comment on Mexican media reports that the victims were the five missing rideshare drivers who disappeared in the border town of Ojinaga on May 30. The drivers told relatives they were driving passengers to the town across from Presidio, Texas, about three hours north of the state capital.

“Only once the forensic investigations are completed and the Crimes Against Persons Unit presents its initial findings can the identities of the victims be established,” the Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.

Chihuahua police received reports of possible deceased persons on the Chihuahua-Aldama Highway at 7:50 a.m. Friday. Videos and photos obtained by a Border Report camera crew in Chihuahua show two bloated, naked male bodies lying on the ground and blankets covering the remaining three bodies.

As of Friday, prosecutors still had no official information on the whereabouts of Abigael Ramos Gonzalez, his son Abigael Ramos Torres, his brother Fabian Ramos Torres, Sandra Salais Calzadillas and Francisco Ivan Flores Hernandez.

The five told family members they were giving rides to Ojinaga, and one told relatives he was on his way back. Their cars were tracked days later by relatives using a GPS app.
