Diocese of Buffalo Releases Recommendations for Northern Erie Vicariate

As the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo recommends merging or closing parishes, a new list of recommendations has been released for the Northern Vicariate of Erie.

Under this plan, 10 parishes would merge and 9 buildings would be put up for sale if each parish family agrees to the conditions.

  • Our Lady of Peace, Clarence — merges with the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
  • Saint Teresa of Avila, Akron
  • Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Williamsville

  • Saint Leo the Great, Amherst
  • Saint Benedict, Eggertsville – merge with Saint Leo the Great. The school will remain open
  • Christ the King, Snyder
  • Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, Cheektowaga – merge with Christ the King
  • Child of Prague, Cheektowaga — merges with SS. Peter and Paul
  • SS. Peter and Paul, Williamsville
