Wellington, Fla. – A man’s unprovoked rage over the placement of a basketball hoop ended with an unarmed couple being shot multiple times in broad daylight by Norman Scott, 63, of Florida, according to police. The murder took place in Wellington’s Black Diamond neighborhood on Saturday.

Scott is charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm. Public court records show he is due in court for an initial case hearing on July 11 and remains held without bail at the Main Jail.

According to an affidavit, police said they interviewed a witness who told them they heard the shots around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and came out to see what happened.
