Accident on I-294: At least one person dead in a multi-vehicle collision near Golf Road in Des Plaines, Illinois State Police say

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WLS) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on a highway in the northern suburbs Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 3:56 p.m. on Interstate 294 near Golf Road in Des Plaines, Illinois State Police said.

According to police, four vehicles were involved in the rear-end collision. One driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not initially known.

Three other drivers were taken to hospital with injuries, police said.

During the police investigation, three left lanes on southbound I-294 were closed.

No further injuries were initially reported.
