First alarm action day: heat warning until 8 p.m.

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Due to higher temperatures that could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, a First Alert ACTION Day will again be in effect on June 7 through the night.

A Warning of excessive heat remains in effect for Yuma County and parts of Imperial County until 8:00 p.m., June 7.

Our current high pressure area is moving eastwards and will give us a break from the intense heat this weekend.

However, I am also observing higher humidity, which will lead to slightly damp conditions and keep our dew point around 10 degrees Celsius for the next few days.

Windy conditions with gusts of 20-30 mph are expected in the desert southwest tonight and throughout the weekend.

Over the weekend we can expect passing clouds and slightly cooler temperatures, but temperatures will still remain higher than normal.
