One fatality in motorcycle accident in Otego, New York

On June 6, 2024, at approximately 11:45 a.m., New York State Police in Oneonta responded to a serious accident on Bert Washburn Road in the Town of Otego involving a motorcycle and a work truck.

The investigation revealed that the truck was parked and unoccupied when Robert P. Burns III, 39, of Otego, NY, was traveling south on his motorcycle. Burns lost control and slid into the front of the truck, where he was thrown from the motorcycle and landed under the truck.

Despite the efforts of Otego Police, EMS and Fire Departments, Burns was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the New York State Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Collision Reconstruction Unit were also present. The investigation is ongoing.
