Shots fired at LA Sheriff’s Sergeant in Pasadena – NBC Los Angeles

A tractor-trailer driver was arrested after an off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department sergeant was shot while traveling on the 210 Freeway in Pasadena Thursday night.

The off-duty sergeant in an Infiniti G37 was not injured in the shooting, which was reported around 9 p.m.

A Freightliner driver began following the off-duty sergeant on the highway, the CHP report said. The sergeant exited the highway near Lake Avenue and heard a gunshot, the CHP report said. He stopped at a gas station and called 911.

CHP officers caught up with the sergeant and the semi-truck near Freeways 5 and 14 north of Los Angeles. The semi-truck driver was arrested at the scene.

The sergeant’s Infiniti appeared to have at least two bullet holes in the trunk lid.

Details of the motive were not immediately clear. The tractor-trailer driver, a 28-year-old man from Delano, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Hours later, a driver was shot on a street in Pasadena. It was believed to be an outburst of anger. No injuries or arrests were reported in this shooting.
