State hospital employee arrested for murder after patient dies

An arrest has been made in connection with the death of a patient at a state hospital in Mississippi.

Keshawn Carpenter, who is listed on LinkedIn as a direct care nurse at East Mississippi State Hospital in Meridian, was taken into custody by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and charged with murder, according to the Scotty Ray Report. Carpenter is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center, with bail set at $250,000.

On May 31, local police responded to an EMSH call. The patient, later identified as Christopher Hamilton, was transported to Jackson for further treatment before passing away on June 2.

Hamilton’s cause of death has not been disclosed, but news of Carpenter’s arrest has raised suspicions of foul play.
