Man in custody in connection with killing of his brothers found dead at scene of Highland Park home fire – NBC Chicago

A man is in custody in connection with the killing of two brothers who were found dead at the scene of a house fire in Highland Park early Wednesday morning, according to the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.

Further details about the suspect’s identity are not yet known. Authorities are expected to release further details later on Friday.

Marc Austick, 63, and John Austwick, 60, were both found dead at the scene of a house fire in the 1700 block of Park Avenue West around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to police, when they arrived, rescue workers noticed two adults, presumably related, outside the house with “suspicious injuries.”

The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed Thursday that both men died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene and the fire was extinguished by firefighters. No other victims were found inside or outside the residence, authorities said.

The deaths of the men and the cause of the fire are still being investigated by the authorities. They are calling it an “isolated incident” in which there is no apparent danger to the public.
