Shooting in Layton district leaves one dead and one injured

LAYTON, Utah (ABC4) — One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting in a Layton neighborhood Thursday evening, June 6.

The City of Layton Police Department confirmed to ABC4.com that police were called to the area of ​​Kirk Street and Sherwood Drive around 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived, a man was found dead at the scene with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Another man was found with a gunshot wound to the hand and taken to hospital for treatment.

Layton police said no suspects had been arrested as of Friday morning, but they do not believe there is a threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released.
