Lincoln woman charged with sexually abusing her underage son

A 36-year-old Lincoln woman was charged Thursday with allegedly having sexual intercourse with her 14-year-old son, court documents show.

According to the probable cause affidavit, police were dispatched to the woman’s residence after the father requested a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they questioned the mother and son separately. According to the affidavit, the boy told officers that the mother may have committed at least 25 counts of sexual abuse.

On Tuesday, police arrested the mother at a supermarket in north Lincoln. The Journal Star is not naming her because she is related to the victim.

She was charged with first-degree sexual assault, child abuse and incest under the age of 18.

Judge Laurie Yardley set her bail at $750,000, meaning she needed $75,000 for her release.
