Gang member receives additional prison sentence after attacking police officers at Atlanta federal prison – WSB-TV Channel 2

ATLANTA – A man who attacked a police officer while incarcerated at a U.S. prison in Atlanta in 2021 will now spend more time behind bars.

Cody Ryan Todd, 34, of Carrollton, was being held at USP-Atlanta in January 2021 when he punched an officer in the face, knocked him down, and continued to strike him while the officer was “incapacitated.” The officer sustained significant injuries.

At the time, Todd was being held on RICO charges related to crimes he committed as a member of the Ghostface Gangsters.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, he eventually pleaded guilty to the RICO charges.

Todd was also charged with conspiracy to commit organized crime and sentenced to 16 years in prison.

After Todd was found guilty of attacking the police officer in February, a judge sentenced him to six years and five months in prison, two years and eleven months of which he must serve concurrently with his sentence for organized crime.

“The FBI has zero tolerance for individuals who use violence against law enforcement officers,” said Keri Farley, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta. “We will always hold criminals accountable for their actions and will not hesitate to pursue those who repeatedly violate the law, even from behind bars.”
