Tuscaloosa police identify pedestrian killed on Wednesday

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa police on Friday determined the identity of a woman who was struck and killed early Wednesday morning while crossing Interstate 359 on foot.

The victim was identified as Brianna Shaunta Nelson, 23, of Tuscaloosa.

As Patch previously reported, TPD said the woman was walking eastbound across the southbound lanes of the 3100 block of I-359 when she was struck by an oncoming box truck.

According to TPD, the driver of an SUV behind the van collided with a second van, which then hit the woman.

According to Tuscaloosa police, the accident occurred at approximately 4:29 a.m.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.
