Russia attacks critical infrastructure in Ukraine, including in the Kyiv region

Russia attacked Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on Friday night, targeting at least nine regions, including the capital Kyiv, Ukrainian authorities said.

Ukrainian air defenses shot down 48 of the 53 combat drones launched by Russia and all five cruise missiles fired, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said on Telegram.

They were shot down in the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Odessa, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi, he said.

At least one person was killed and four others were injured in Russian attacks on the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk. Four others were injured in the Kherson region and six more in Dnipropetrovsk, local authorities said.

A fire broke out at an industrial facility in the Kyiv region, but no one was injured and emergency services are currently working to extinguish the fire, said the head of the Kyiv region’s military administration.
