While this vehicle was stranded, at 1:17 a.m. a second vehicle ran over the pedestrian and crashed into the stranded vehicle, which in turn struck an occupant of the stranded vehicle.

Police identified the pedestrian killed as Moncrieffe Marlon, 18, of Deerfield Avenue, Hartford. They identified the passenger killed as Jaheem Emanuel Miles, 21, of Irving Street, Hartford.

According to the accident report, a 2004 Honda Accord driven by a 20-year-old New Haven woman came to rest in the right of two lanes of Route 5/15 South.

According to the police, the vehicle had become unusable due to a previous accident. The three occupants then got out and stood on the right-hand shoulder with a pedestrian who had come to the scene of the accident.

According to police, a Nissan Rogue was traveling in the right lane of Route 5/15 South and then collided with the pedestrian, later identified as Marlon, before colliding with the Honda itself.

When the vehicle collided with the broken-down vehicle, it was thrown into one of the passengers, later identified as Miles, who was hit and seriously injured.

According to police, the driver of the Nissan fled on foot after the collision and has not yet been found.

Police said pedestrian Marlon was pronounced dead at the scene. Miles was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver and another passenger in the Honda suffered minor injuries in the previous accident and were taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, police said.

This case remains under investigation and police are still searching for the driver of the Nissan.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has dashcam footage of the vehicles involved is asked to contact State Police Trooper Michael Dean at Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1098 or [email protected].
