1 person died late Thursday after police-involved shooting in Casper

CASPER, Wyoming – A person was shot and killed Thursday night while resisting arrest at an apartment complex on Casper’s east side.

According to a Casper Police press release, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 5000 block of Pay It Forward Drive on Casper’s east side around 9:30 p.m.

During the investigation, officers attempted to arrest an individual. According to the press release, the individual “attempted to gain control of a firearm and was subsequently shot by an officer.”

Officers began administering first aid while ambulances arrived. The person was taken to Banner Wyoming Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. None of the officers were injured in the incident, they said.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will conduct the investigation into the incident. The crime scene is under the control of DCI investigators and there is no danger to the public, the press release states.

Casper police said they placed the officer involved on paid administrative leave, as is standard practice in such incidents.
